COOKIES!!
What: She's making cookies, and Tana takes this as her mission to get her older brother to help.
When: During the bad weather when they're not much else to do.
Where: Their apartment.
Warnings: Uhm...sibling stuff?
Tana had woken up this morning hoping that the weather report would be wrong. Unfortunately, it had been right, and she sighed as she looked at the dark clouds and torrents of rain streaming from the sky. Great. She still needed to do Christmas shopping, but it didn't look like the weather wanted her out.
It wasn't long before an idea struck her. The apartment she was sharing with Innes had yet to be decorated for Christmas, and she had yet to make cookies! She went online and sent messages to her friends, promising them some, and looking up recipes, then flew to the kitchen. She tore through the cabinets, collecting ingredients and putting them on the counter where she could see them. Somehow, they had the right ones to make sugar cookies. She wanted to cut them out with cookie cutters in holiday shapes, but she would figure out how to do that without cookie cutters later.
She didn't try to keep the noise down. The kitchen was full of clanging and other noise from Tana collecting mixing bowls and cookie sheets. She was hoping to attract someone's attention anyway...
"They need to be shaped like fish," Innes stated. It was one thing he missed from home was how much fish he'd have on a normal basis. Of course, Frelia had the best fish, outdoing the SF Fish Market, which was pretty well known in itself. Then again, Innes was severely biased.
"Come over here and help me add stuff." She then added sugar and other dry ingredients into the mix. "We'll need a few eggs and some vanilla." Tana realized that this would probably be the only time ever where she would be telling Innes what to do. She'd have to treasure this moment.
"As long as you make them Christmasy, you can have your fish." She flashed a grin and continued to follow the recipe, adding the wet ingredients to the dry ones. "Hurry up with those eggs!" She poked him with the clean end of the spoon she would use to mix the dough.
He, of course, returned the demands with a rather large frown. The poking only made him frown harder. "Here," he offered the eggs to her.
"We can make icing once the cookies are in the oven. I found some food coloring hidden behind all the sugar, so we can make them different colors." Decorating the cookies was the best part, other than eating them of course. She gave Innes a pseudo-glare. "And you're not allowed to eat all of them! We have to save some for Eirika and Ephraim." She had promised them some, and she would make her brother's life miserable if he did in fact consume their cookies.
I love your Innes. I want to give him a hug.
The dough was getting more difficult to mix, and Tana felt her arm tire, so she switched them. It didn't take too long for the dough to get to the right consistency and for the lumps to go away. She grinned and scraped the remaining dough on the spoon into the bowl and set it down. She then cleared a spot on the counter and sprinkled flour on it so the dough wouldn't stick as she dumped it on top. She grabbed the rolling pin, sprinkled more flour on that, and rolled the dough out. It took her a few times to get it right, but she soon worked it in the right way so it would be easy to cut out shapes and pick them up. "Grab a knife and start cutting out shapes!" It would be harder without cookie cutters, but it would be more fun too.
aw thanks. he does need a hug.
He watched her mix the dough. For a moment, he thought she wouldn't be able to mix it, but then again, she was his sister. She'd do it just fine.
A knife to cut cookies? Well, whatever suited her. He could handle cutting dough just fine but he didn't want her cutting her fingers off. Last thing he wanted was to drag her to the hospital and explain she took out her fingers while cutting shapes in cookie dough. Lovely.
"I'll cut then." He fished out a knife to start cutting shapes out, particularly fishy shapes.
He does. Tana can glomp him for me. >:3
rofl he'd throw such a fit
A fit...with some love?
of course! :D

She carefully started to cut out shapes. They weren't very good, but you could still tell what they were supposed to be. Sort of. She attempted to cut Christmas tree, snowmen, stars, and other Christmas shapes. She then looked over to see what Innes was cutting out.
Haha thanks X3
He scooted over, allowing her to where she wanted to go, then he busied himself cutting out first fish, then other things followed: snowflakes, stars, and trees. They were pretty well cut, as he took his time to make sure they were the best.
